Portrait d'Éloïse, fondatrice d'AQALé

Eloïse Favennec-Bécot - Accessories & jewelry

Founder of AQALé Home – Laval, Mayenne, France

Djiboutian through her mother and French through her father, Eloïse Favennec-Bécot spent many years working at the very heart of political life and major public decisions.
But three years ago, another calling imposed itself upon her: the call of a childhood dream — to build a bridge between her two countries, Djibouti and France.

As a little girl, Eloïse lived in Djibouti, fascinated by her mother’s homeland and by the craftswomen she met along her walks. She would watch their hands tell silent stories, weaving memory and beauty with patience and grace that moved her deeply.
From this emotion, AQALé home was born. From this memory, but also from her own family story: her mother Zahra, the daughter of nomads, and her grandmother Indodeeq, who was herself one of these craftswomen.

AQALé home was born from a deep desire to shine a light on these women who are too often invisible, to value their know-how, and to bring their art into our contemporary lives. While the brand is rooted in the world of home décor, it goes beyond: it also offers fashion accessories and jewelry, to accompany everyday life and extend this connection between tradition and modernity into every aspect of living.

This project of the heart is also a project of substance. It is built on strong values: ethics, the economic and social empowerment of craftswomen, transmission of skills, inclusion, training, and a commitment to sustainable development.
A project that reflects its name: “aqal”, which means “nomadic house” in Somali — a light structure symbolizing a resilient, mobile way of life, deeply connected to nature and to humanity.
